Jet setter satos hit the skys!!!

Well here they finally go! Lala and Lannie boarded a fancy plane today piloted by Tim Johnson to take them up to Lakeland, Florida where they will switch to another pilot and finally make it to Peoria, Illinois. Poor Lannie was so nervous in the car she barfed, pooped, and gacked all over the back seat. I guess that's what thick towels are for! They girls will be so happy when they get to their forever homes. They are beautiful and sweet little darlings and will make wonderful pets for those who take them in. Thanks so much to Second Chance Animal Rescue and Pilots 'n' Pawsand also to Sandra and Nilsa for taking care of the babies before they left the island. I'm sure either of those groups would be happy to take in any donations to help with the expenses.

Betsy's new home

The beautiful Betsy - now called Bella (which is PERFECT for her!) is finally in her happy new home. Thank you so much to Alicia and Second Chance Animal Rescue for finding this sweetheart her perfect forever home. Here is the blog posting from Alicia:Welcome home Bella (aka Betsy)
I mentioned before in a post about a beautiful pup named Betsy who was found at Dead Dog Beach with a broken leg. This poor pup has been through a lot. She has since had 4 surgeries, her spay and 3 on her badly broken leg. But she was a trooper and not only pulled through but pulled through still remaining extremely loving, trusting and an all around cuddle bug. She came up to Peoria, IL on June 6th to join her new family. She was adopted by a wonderful friend of mine who continually supports me and helps me navigate my 6 hour trips to Chicago to pick up dogs as they come in. They have been waiting 2 years to adopt a dog. And the minute they saw the pictures I had of Betsy when she was dumped at the beach they fell in love with her. She is now named Bella and shares her home with Kelly, her husband Jeff and their 2 children Mackenzie and Luke. She does have 2 cat siblings that she is having a hay day stirring up their day to day lives. One of her new past times is now chasing the cats around the house. She is an extremely smart pup and has yet to go potty in her crate! She has also found Mackenzie's bed to be her favorite place to nap and lounge. Her leg is still a little swollen but is doing well and doesn't seem to hold her back as she zooms through the kitchen. She does need to put some weight back on. With all of her surgeries and trauma she needs a good 5 to 10 lbs to fill out a little more. But she truly is a people dog. Kelly will let her out in the morning and she runs into Luke's room to say hello and make sure he is still there. She then goes down the line into Mackenzie's room and then to make sure Jeff is there. When she has found everyone she runs back downstairs to find Kelly for her breakfast. She is doing fantastic and adjusting well to her new and very spoiled lifestyle.

Easy come, easy go

Sweet little Betsy arrived on Thursday and left out again just two days later! She came in with a big group of dogs including Lala and Lannie, who are still at my house awaiting transport. Betsy is the little girl who was dumped with a broken leg. She had orthopedic surgery to repair the break but the pin wasn't set correctly so she had to have two subsequent operations - the poor little girl! Here she is waiting patiently at the vet's office for her health certificate and then in her kennel on the scale at American Airlines counter (poor little thing was a little scared). She flew out on Saturday - such a seasoned traveler! - to Alicia with Second Chance Animal Rescue which is actually located in Puerto Rico but Alicia is in Peoria, IL and had a wonderful home for Miss Betsy. Lala and Lannie are soon to follow but arrangements are being made through Pilots 'N Paws, a non-profit group that assists rescues in transporting animals to new homes and to other rescue groups.

More new dogs to Florida

Today we got nine more little bundles of joy from Puerto Rico. Gina, Scooby, Spot and Stephanie are all at the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, Mika and Nicole (not pictured) are at The Contented Canine boarding for a few days, and Lannie, Lala and Betsy are settling in nicely at my home where they will stay for about a week before they then fly to new homes in Chicago. You can also take a look at the videos below to see how much fun the puppies are having - they're giving grumpy Ziggy a run for his money! Thank you so much to Nilsa, Barbara, Mary, Alicia, Sabine and Nathan for making this trip happen.Video 1

Update on Denisse
I LOVE hearing stories from our little adopted pups families! This is Denisse, now named Roxy. She was rescued over a year ago(my how time flies). She is doing fantastic with her new family, as you can see. She is absolutely beautiful! They say she loves going on their boat and they absolutely adore her. This is what your donations accomplish.

Update on puppies
Today the 5 puppies that were at Dr. Reyes for a week were moved to Nilsa, our puppy foster extraordinaire. We also picked up Cindy, a precious little Chihuahua mix who was dumped at the beach. We'll know more about her tomorrow after she meets with Dr. Vasquez this afternoon.
We are in desperate need of money, plain and simple. I know I keep saying it over and over. So many people have been so generous but it's just been keeping our head above water, not allowing us to pay down the $6,000+ debt we have with out wonderful vets and boarding facilities. Please send any you can to help us continue to be able to do these rescues. It costs an average of $200-250 PER DOG we take in, depending on age and health. So these little angels pictured here are at least $1,200 worth of vetting, boarding, and shipping. Please help us however you can. If everyone who read this blog posting would send $20 - even $10 - we would clear our debt down easily. I always hate asking for money but remember, it's for the doggies.
